Coronation Street is lining up a prison fling for Rob Donovan.
Rob is currently serving a life sentence for the murder of Michelle Keegan’s character Tina McIntyre in 2014, with the villain recently returning to our screens as part of his sister Carla Connor’s transplant storyline.
Rob has offered Carla a kidney after his son Bobby visited him in prison and asked him to help, though it’s clear he has an ulterior motive up his sleeve.
According to The Sun, upcoming scenes will see Rob strike up an intimate relationship with prison guard Mandy (played by Shameless actor Rebecca Atkinson), who made her first appearance on the ITV soap this week as Matty threatened her with a knife.
Recently discussing how his character has changed since his last stint on the show, Rob actor Marc Baylis said that whilst he is a very different perosn after spending seven years in prison, “whether his core nature has changed or not, whether he’s made changes for the greater good, is yet to be seen”.
He continued: “But he’s not had the easiest of times in prison, as I don’t think anyone would do for that amount of time, particularly someone who did what he did to a young woman.
“It’s not something that he’s had an easy journey with, and it’s something that he has huge regrets over with the way that everything played out. We do get to see some of that on screen, as well as Rob’s genuine feelings.:
His final statement may well just hint at the reported racy scenes to come as he notes: “With Rob, there are always motives to make his life better than what it is, and that may well get him into trouble yet again.”
